Cal Poly Pomona? Science, technology, & society major?

Would it be a good idea to major in Science, Technology, and Society (STS) at Cal Poly Pomona? Is it even a good idea to go to that school? I know it has really good engineering and architecture but would it be good for the major I'm interested in?

CPP is a very good school. Apply, go on a school tour, speak to students and professors and make your decision based upon how you feel after a close up and personal experience. That is what we did and we gave up 5 spots at the UC’s for Cal Poly SLO. Pomona was the runner up – however, we really liked the school and would have chosen it as our first choice until we did the tour a SLO. SLO won out.

CPP has a very solid reputation in the STEM fields, but be mindful that nearly all of the engineering disciplines have been designated as ‘impacted’ majors.

Note that CPP’s Science, Technology, and Society major is more of a social studies type major than a science major:

Note that the curriculum sheet suggests that a STEM major can get an STS minor with only three additional courses.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Just curious, what does STEM mean? Also, I was thinking about double majoring with economics, and since companies recognize the school wouldn’t that help me if I wanted to get into more of the business side of things?

STEM = science, technology, engineering, mathematics
