Cal Poly Pomona vs. San Jose State University

I thought I was settled on attending San Jose State for a Computer Engineering Major but a lot of information online suggests that Cal Poly Pomona may be a better engineering school in some regards. The problem is that some of this information is outdate but has nevertheless confused me about my decision.

Could anyone offer any insight on which may be the better school to attend?

San Jose State is located near Silicon Valley, it may not be a better school(I don’t know) but the location makes it attractive to employers to hold recruiting events.

Cal Poly Pomona is more recognized than San Jose State.

If you’re looking at software or computer science/engineering then San Jose is a no brainer. They have the industry connections, location, and experience with computers to make it a stronger option overall.

Now don’t get me wrong, CPP is a fine school, but San Jose just has more going for it if you are into computers.

In Southern California that would be the case. In Northern California, San Jose State is more recognized.

For anything computer-related, San Jose State’s location is a huge plus. From what I’ve read, San Jose State works closely with local Silicon Valley employers to produce the kinds of graduates local companies are looking for.

We are in CO. Last night we met somebody with daughter studying MechE at CPP. Sounds like a good school. She will do a senior group project hext year, I think industry sponsored by industry.
