Cal Poly SLO vs. San Jose State University (SJSU) for Computer Engineering?

It's my understanding that Cal Poly is one of the best schools in the country for engineering (therefore probably also the most competitive), and an education there rivals that of a UC or prestigious private university. However, SJSU is smack dab in Silicon Valley which means that internship opportunities flow like wine with a great career services department and there's even programs that allow students to intern DURING the school year.

I know I can't go wrong with either, but I wanted to know if there was a clear advantage of going to one school or the other for computer engineering.

I'm in community college student with 3 more semesters remaining after this one so I expect that I'll be able to complete the pre-reqs in either case (just to give you guys some context)

Also interested in the answer to this. Cal Poly is much much much more prestigious, but like you said, SJSU has great internship opportunities and is apparently well respected within the Silicon Valley.

Lots of companies come to recruit students at Cal Poly for engineering and architecture. I’m not sure either way about computer science.

Cal Poly has the better reputation, but San Jose State’s access to Silicon Valley makes up for it. I’ve worked with plenty of smart people from both schools.

Either school is fine.

yeah honestly in the long run, it doesn’t matter, since both colleges have their own strengths, and you can’t go wrong with either of them. just pick the one you like the most, considering these colleges are on polar ends (urban vs. isolated, etc)
