***cal poly slo early decision thread 2015-2016***

@Northwood16, the reason they do that is because it helps them to normalize between students who took the SAT and the ACT.

So whenever decisions come out, we check our portals and it says something along the lines of congrats? Or does it say something else?

Applied ED for Architecture

CP GPA: 4.09 (I think I calculated it wrong because my transcripts show a 4.19)
SAT: 640 reading, 640 math
21+ hours of EC w/ leadership

MCA is roughly 4400
OOS Male

Does anyone think I will get in?

FREAKING OUT & CROSSING MY FINGERS! Good luck to everyone!!!

@eyemgh I’ll keep that in mind; thanks!

How do you calculate MCA?

look here

If you go to the link posted above and go to page 1, reply #2 you can see how it is calculated. Good luck, @malanana!

I looked on the Ed thread from last year and most people started finding out about acceptances on the 10th…the waiting game continues

My daughter is having difficulty loading the “application status” on the cal poly portal on her iPhone. Is anyone else having the same problem?

@Mumstheword2 I’m having the same issue, I don’t think the website is formatted for mobile use so I’d just stick to using a computer to check app status!

I’m bracing myself for the worst, but praying for the best. These last days are going by extremely slow, and the anxiety is killing me! …not knowing if decisions come out tomorrow, next Monday, or anywhere in between. Anyhow, good luck to all of you!

@Jairbear21 I’m not sure about your major but in terms of average statistics, you should definitely be in for early decision. Everything looks up to par for Poly’s standards.

Does anyone know if you can check your application status on the Cal Poly smartphone app? They have a student portal section and a admissions section, but it doesn’t look like there is a place to post an admissions decision.

@ocgolfdad I’m wondering the same thing about the website portal too. Where will the admission decision be posted?

@AIprogrammer On their regular website it’s pretty easy: go to your CP Portal, click “Student Center”, then “Application Status” at the bottom of the screen.

@ocgolfdad oh wow, I really didn’t put 2 and 2 together. I’ll blame it on the stress of waiting haha

I am freaking out about decisions. I check the portal every hour! Will someone chance me?

Applied ED
Major: Food Sciences
GPA: 3.71
ACT: 31
EC: 20+ hours a week, not related to my major

Thanks and good luck everyone!!

Hey! I got in for ED Computer Science last year and instead of studying for finals, I decided to post on here!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I got accepted with:
4.2 gpa
30 ACT
Loads of EC (30+/week) (FIRST, BSA, ect) with Leadership positions for years
Previous College Credit
A lot of AP credit as well (came in with sophomore standing)
In state male

do u think with ed, admissions will be more lenient, my gpa is not really close to the average (less than a 4.0) however my act english and math are both 34 and ive taken a bunch of aps and challenging science and math classes.(5 aps & 2 honors last two years, and 5 aps this year) Also a good amount of ec hours. I applied for computer engineering .

@zdutta123 Calculate your MCA score and post it here. I, @eyemgh, or someone else who is familiar with the range of MCA scores for engineering can probably give you a good idea of your chances, at least based on previous year’s acceptances.
