Cal Poly SLO ED looking for roommate!

I’m looking at Sierra Madre first, then Yosemite, and 3rd choice Tenaya. Hopefully doubles. I filled out a roommate questionnaire I found online, so if we match, let me know!

Are you a night owl? Not particularly, but I can stay up late anytime really. I’m not one for pulling all nighters for studying that often though!
Are you an early bird? Yes for the most part, I wake up easily and usually early-ish (not like at dawn, but around 7:30 or 8 easily)
Do you like to party? Not a lot now, but I think I will a little more in college (and only weekends, I value my education!)
Do you smoke? No
Do you blaze? No
Favorite food? I absolutely love fruit, any kind. I eat pretty healthy but I am not against snacks
Clean or neat? In between, I mostly like to stay organized and clean (especially the bathroom) but sometimes things get slightly messy if I’m extremely busy.
Are you in a relationship/have a boyfriend? No
What clubs are you planning to be involved in? Possibly newspaper staff or mock trial (if that counts?)
What’s your favorite type of music? No metal or screamo type but I listen to an array of both popular and independent bands, mostly rock and such
What are your study habits, silent or social? I like a mix. I study well if I’m discussing things but homework sometimes I work better with quiet (but not dead silent)
Do you play sports? I used to run cross country, so I still love running and I’m up for all kinds of outdoors-y type exercise!
Do you know a lot of people going to Poly? I have a few friends already there that are a year older, but no one extremely close
Do you watch a lot of TV? Not really, except I love watching the Big Bang Theory !
Do you plan on rushing Greek? I don’t think so
What are you looking for in a roommate? Someone fun but can be serious if time calls for it, but mostly easy going and social! Probably someone that isn’t rushing Greek either maybe? I’m not really looking for anyone specific
What’s your major? Business Administration
Where are you from? Dana Point, CA (next to Laguna Beach)
Any weird habits? I like to be cold when I sleep, if that counts as a weird habit?
Do you plan on having friends visit? Maybe once in awhile but not extremely often
What are your pet peeves? I don’t think I really have any
Are you planning to bring a car? No

If you think we’re a match let me know ASAP since the housing application comes out soon!

The best thing to do is go to your year’s facebook page and post there. Many roommates hook up on facebook. Here is the link to “Cal Poly SLO Class of 2016”:

coxcablee: just so you know, you can make changes to the roommate preference until june 1 i think! so don’t worry if there are no ed applicants that you get along with, i guarantee there will be one in regular decision!! just make sure you get your housing app in early, all it does is secure you a spot in the “line” of who gets housing first!

@mkonjibhu: The only roommate preference question they ask is if you smoke or not.

Also, don’t look for roommates. Going random is a much safer option than securing a roommate right now. Since your first three choices are dorms, you’re never going to be in there anyway and your roommate will definitely NOT be your best friend. :)

walwal, my daughter found a perfectly fine roommate on the Cal Poly Class of 2014 Facebook group. I’m not sure what you mean by “never being in the dorm room, anyway”. It’s their new home, so of course they’ll be in there. And, some roommates DO end up being best friends. Or at least good friends. Anyway, she filled out a questionnaire and connected with a girl with similar likes and dislikes. It worked out great!

i don’t see how the fact that they only ask one question relates to what i said. its a personal preference, and not everyone can get along iwth anyone they are in a room with. also, i don’t know whether you are a girl or a boy but generally girls are different, and can be much more beneficial to pick a roommate for some people. while not choosing obviously worked out in your favor, there are plenty of people i’ve talked to that tell me its extremely important to pick a roommate.

mkonjibhu:

I agree. And, I do think that girls tend to want to connect with a potential roommate ahead of time, whereas I’ve seen a lot of guys just go with the randomly placed roomie. It might be that there is sometimes more drama associated with females sharing a close space. But, I definitely think it can be beneficial to choose a roommate via someplace like the Facebook Class of_______pages. That doesn’t mean going with whomever the school places you with is necessarily going to be a failure. It can work out either way. :)
