Cal State Apply "Supporting Information"

The new Cal State Apply app has a section titled “Supporting Information.”

The first part of this section is the opportunity for EOP students to include Letters of Recommendations. No letters of recommendations for all other applicants.

It also includes a section entitled “Achievements” that includes the following achievement types: Awards, Honors, Presentations, Publications & Scholarships. The format is much like many EC/Honors/Activities sections in other applications. However, right above it, it says in bold red: “For Undergraduate applicants: Achievements are optional, and you may skip ahead by clicking I Am Not Adding Any Achievements. Achievements reported will not be used during the consideration of your application for admission.” If this is “not used for consideration of an application for admission”, why is it there?

On the EOP page, it says in bold: Please refer to the Checklist on the program materials section of the application to determine if this section is required for your program application. Going back to that section, there is nothing for Cal Poly indicating this section should be completed.

Has anyone spoken to the Admissions Office to get clarification on if this section needs to be filled out or not?
