here's the deal. i graduated from high school in '06 and decided to attend Cal State Fullerton as a business major. I thought it sucked... so i applied and was accepted to UC Irvine as a biology major. Truth is... i don't know if i'll be too happy there either. I was wondering if anyone could provide any feedback on my chances of getting accepted to UCLA, knowing that i had attended two schools prior. I got a 3.94 GPA my first semester here at CSUF... and am doing quite well here in my second.

Also, if i decide to apply to UCLA, should i apply as biology? or should i change my major to something less competitive?

Why do you not want to go to UCI? What makes you think that you won't be happy there? (just curious...) If I were you, I would decline admission to UCI and stick it out for another year at CSUF and THEN apply to UCLA...you could probably even apply now for Winter 08 if they're accepting applicants.

well i want to get into medicine and UCI has some pretty good research opportunities. CSUF blows, quite frankly. and, whether i like UCI or not, it'll have something for me. i'm just worried about all the unit conversions and what counts for what. i guess i'll give it a go? what do i have to lose? 60 bucks?

I'd definitely give UCI a fair shot with a POSITIVE attitude and an open mind. You might be surprised :) Too bad CSUF didn't work out for ya--my boyfriend is transferring there from a ccc in the fall haha...Good luck! And if all else fails, you can always apply to UCLA after your sophomore year (it's easier to transfer between UC's especially with all of your G.E classes complete).

From reading alot of interviews/college admissions books, anything YOU think will stand out, will most likely stand out in the adcom's minds. Adcom's are human, they will see the red flags in your applications just as you do! Address any red flag in your application without lingering on it too much.

thanks for responding guys :)
yeah i'm definitely going to give UCI a fair shot and hopefully your boyfriend does well there.
will do, walnut. thanks for the feedback.
