CAL-STATE gpa includes 9th grade year or not?

Hey guys,

i’m so confused. Everyone had told me before that cal states included 9th grade grades into the gpa, but when i was working on my apps and i had to calculate my gpa it specifically said this on csumentor.com,

“Your high school grade point average (GPA) is calculated on all a-g courses completed after grade 9.”

Not sure what to think. I’m going to double check with my college counselor but I was wondering if anyone else knew which way it actually is?

No it is not included except for cp slo. Of course, CSU MENTOR is the definitive and final word.

Cal States and UCs are the same in calculating GPA. Freshman and senior year grades are not used to calculate GPA. For a chart of rules and comparison between Cal States and UCs (high school GPA is near the bottom), see http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/csu-uc-a-g-comparison-matrix.pdf

As stated by @BrownParent: Cal Poly SLO is the only CSU that uses 9th grades in their GPA calculation. Calculate your CSU GPA based on 10-11th grades and if you apply to SLO, they will recalculate your GPA based on their criteria.

Alright thank you everyone! this definitely helps my chances at the cal states. And I was going to ask whether cal poly recalculates my gpa or if I do, but @Gumbymom already answered that question on my other thread.

Thanks again
