I got into the engineering school at UCSD for computer science and just got off the waitlist for Berkeley for computer science in the arts department. But at Berkeley, I am admitted as a spring admit and have the option to do the Fall Program for Freshmen, which means I will be on campus for the fall semester with limited classes and be officially a student in the spring.
I’m not sure what to do, and any advice would help big time. Thanks.
UCB L&S?
If so, you need a 3.3 in prerequisites to get into the L&S CS major.
If you are in CS at UCSD, it would be the safer choice. If not, getting into CS there is competitive.
My son’s roommate did the Fall Program for Freshmen last year.
He is also thinking about doing L&S CS and is currently doing excellent in all of his classes.
So it’s definitely doable.
If you’re in at UCSD CSE and you’re certain that CS is your passion, take the opportunity there. The difference between Berkeley and SD CS is marginal and probably not worth the risk of not getting into L&S CS.
