Cal vs UCSD

Which one would be a better pick for me? I got into Cal L&S college and UCSD Jacob's School of Engineering, and want to major in comp sci. A big part of me wants to go to Cal because of my major, but the workload worries me a little.

What major in L&S are you talking about…?
everyone in L&S comes in undeclared. you have to declare later.

i say, don’t fear having to work hard. suck it up and go to CAL; your resume will thank you for it. work hard, do well, and graduate.

@88888888: i want to do comp sci in L&S.
@ilivefree: thanks for the advice :)

I lived in SD for many years and UCSD is a great school in an outstanding location. But…UCSD has a commuter school feel to it. I think you will get a much better college experience at Cal.

After a debate between ECE@UCSD and EECS@Berkeley, I went with Berkeley. I have had some regrets (for example, UCSD requires only six quarters of humanities whereas Berkeley CoE requires six semesters) but as far as the courses and people go, I am glad I chose Berkeley.

Also the internship market is pretty good if you are a computer scientist from Berkeley. Make sure that you excel in your classes and have some out-of-class projects to show (ok… admittedly that is much easier said than done, but there are a lot of students who like to work outside of class so it is a good environment), and you will be interviewing left and right ;-)

yea. berkeley is fun.

I’m guessing a lot more “recruiters” come to Berkeley than UCSD b/c 1) Silicon Valley is closer, and 2) Berkeley is pretty well known for compsci so you’d get more opportunities for internships.

thanks guys. i’ve decided to go to Cal. hopefully i’ll see some of you there :)

k give me a call
