CalArts acceptances

Actually some of the people in the group haven’t decided yet, so you never know. According to past threads, CalArts does have a waiting list and some people only get their acceptances in late March.

Hmm! Continues to be a long and winding road. Glad you are our inside source now! YAY!

:( just got this for my mfa program app.

Dear Sarah:

I regret to inform you that, after a thorough evaluation of your application, we are unable to offer you admission to the Acting program at the California Institute of the Arts for the Fall 2013 semester.

Please understand that the admissions process requires that very difficult choices be made, and that these decisions are final. We are unable to reconsider admissions decisions after they have been reached. However, under no circumstances should our decision be understood as a reflection on your ability or potential. CalArts is dedicated to offering small classes with professional artists/instructors, and the large number of applicants we receive each year makes it impossible to accommodate every talented applicant.

Thank you for your interest in CalArts and for all the time and energy you invested in your application. We wish you the best in your academic and creative endeavors.

Sincerely,

Molly Ryan
Director of Admissions

:( :frowning: :frowning: So sorry, Sarahsneak. What a bummer. Many hugs sent your way!

I’m so sorry Sarahsneak :frowning: I know what it feels like…

Is the PIN the same for the Application account? Sorry I’m so bad at all this account stuff…

I’m sorry about your rejection, I’m sure you’re a wonderful person and you’ll do great things!

No, It is a different number. You would have gotten an email from admissions with this link on it and the PIN #. My S got it after he submitted his application. Check your old emails (if you keep them all the way we do!)

I’d really like to be considered to be put on the waiting list, but wouldn’t they tell me if I was on that? :[

Plus I still have an appt to shadow on this monday and Idk if I’m up to going now! Do any of you have any suggestions? I feel like if I do go, that shows I’m interested in going… but I’m also ridiculously poor and can’t afford to fly to LA, do hotel and all that jazz. What should I do???

Sarahsneak: I think they choose the people on the waiting list, unfortunatelly :(

If you’re considering applying again next year, you should go. That shows you’re still interested and you’ll learn more about the school and you can ask questions about what to improve. If not, then don’t go.

I do think I want to apply again, but I’m absolutely devastated right now and going there is going to kill me.

ugh. I’m so confused. It’s so expensive to rent a car when you’re under 25 too :/

Sarahsneak - if you really want this, I wouldn’t miss this opportunity. Forget that you were rejected and try to pretend that you’re just beginning the search. I know it’s hard, but if it’s a thing you really want, I think it’s worth it.

When I auditioned I stayed at a hostel close to Hollywood and took the metro and the train (Antelope Valley Line) to the Newhall Metrolink Station. I think the ticket was 8 bucks. From there you can take a cab to CalArts which will cost around $ 15.

Aww Sarahsneak, I’m really sorry :frowning: If it means anything, I was rejected for the MFA as well! And this is after receiving an acceptance from my top choice program so I know it has nothing to do with my talent. You must trust that as well; acceptances/rejections to drama school are really not a reflection of your abilities. You can’t judge your worth based on what one school thinks of you! I know you had your heart set on calarts, but just know that everything happens for a reason. Keep your faith and follow your dream, and something good will happen I just know it :)

Sarahsneak- my D had a big disappointment last year when she didnt get into her top choice but we are encouraging her to keep following her dream. She took a spot at the school that was the best of those that accepted her. She is out there trying again this year as a transfer student. This year’s audition season has yielded several great acceptances already, although she has still not received her CalArts decision. As a mom, my advice would be to save your money this year (don’t shadow next week),and try again at CalArts and other top programs next year. DO NOT GIVE UP if this is what you love. I just know the right door will open at the right time. I can’t wait to see you on the stage or big screen one day.

MLKS:

What’s the count today of accepted acting BFAs in the Facebook group?!?

Sarahsneak - do not define yourself by this. You have a passion and talent.

MomOfDreamer: 17 confirmed for the BFA Acting, although there are 6 students in the group and haven’t posted yet, so possibly 23.

ActingforFilmmom congrats on your D’s acceptance. I was hoping you could make a few posts in maybe Waiting waiting waiting or Checking in, like maybe 5 more pots  so that I may be able to pm you, since our D’s have the same interests in film and I’d like to ask you a few things of how you got to your list etc etc. Hope to talk soon.

MLKS:

Thanks for the update:)

Ok- as we go into yet another week, who is still waiting to hear besides our family? Acting720 - is your S still waiting? How about some of the early posters in this thread?

YES! We are still waiting here! Geez. I heard they weren’t finished, then I heard they are finished and now I just am thinking we will NEVER hear. Glad you are still out there, too!
