calc 2 profs

I just found out I have Aaron Carl Smith as my Calc 2 prof. Can't find anything in ratemyprofessors.com or any other eval. for him. Anyone know if he is new and if you've had him, how well does he teach? I know this is a tough class, I just want to make sure to have a good teacher. I also have Clemans for psych. Anyone know anything about her? Thanks in advance.

Might be new to teaching the course. They usually offer the teaching spots to the best grad students, who have TAed for a while. However, that’s not guaranteed.

ASMAJ, what are the chances I could drop this and add another calc 2 course by a prof I’m more certain about? Are the chances good or would I be taking a big risk by doing so? Thanks.

I wouldn’t drop it, just wait to see if there is an open section(s) and then add it then, when you to change. Don’t you have access to ISIS now? Just search and see if other sections are available. They is also drop/add week, which will have other sections show up.

I don’t think I can do anything till August 3rd. At least that’s what they told me at Preview. So then you recommend I don’t drop what I have unless I see a better choice that is already available, right? Then I drop and add right away? I don’t think they’ll let me add another calc 2 class if I already am signed up for one, right? I know these are dumb questions, just bear with me! Thanks.

I am assigned to Theral Moore. I looked him up on ratemyprofessors.com and it said that he is a good teacher, but he is blind. Has anyone had him before?

T. Moore - He walks in and starts writing stuff from memory on the whiteboard. He uses the divider between the two boards to get an idea of where he is orientated before writing. I ended up switching to a different section since his writing was the clearest. Many people like him because his review sheets before the test, basically have the test questions on it. So do the review, you should get a high test grade.

You can check his review here: [Theral Moore](Theral Moore | Department of Mathematics)

I guess thinks have changed. I had access to change my schedule right after preview ended. They lock the system again, before drop/add starts.

Yes. You can see the list of professors teaching each section on the math website.

You can check who is teaching here: http://www.math.ufl.edu/~fgarvan/cgi-bin/schedule_csh.cgi?sem=f&yr=2009&submit=GET+LIST

I actually don’t remember if you can sign up for two sections of the same class.

If you’ve already got your Calc 2 class in your schedule, you’ll have to get rid of it and then add the other one. I would suggest making sure there are at least 2 or 3 openings before erasing your current class, cause someone could get the last one if you’re not quick.

Also, I don’t have access to register until August 3 @ 9:35am. I think this is the same for everyone.

I had Dr. Moore for Calc 2. His handwriting is bad, but he realizes this and will say aloud what he’s writing as he writes it on the board. His exams weren’t too difficult, very straightforward. He assigns homework but does not collect it. After each exam, he gives you the opportunity to come in and earn 1/3 of your missed points back by explaining to him your errors, which I’m sure helped a lot of people out.
