calc bc fixing calc ab score?

I was not so happy after the calc ab exam this May (I messed up two of the free responses IN A BIG WAY), and this girl told me that if you do better on a section of the calc bc exam than you did on your calc ab exam, it can raise your grade. She said her boyfriend (who was in calc 3 this year) brought his up from a 3 to a 5.

Is that really true? Can they do that?

If so, I'm a very happy person. I'm guessing I got a 3 (maybe a 4) on the calc ab exam, but I got a 100 on my final and an A in the class, so if I do well in bc next year, I wanna be able to bring up a mediocre score.

You can bring it up. Sort of. I don't believe it replaces your grade entirely, but when you take BC you get an AB subscore.

So, say for example you took AB and got a 3; then you take BC and get a 5 w/ a 5 AB subscore. Then, essentially, you have a 5 for both the AB and BC exams.
