Calc II or Calc III?

So, I'm going to be a Material Science and Engineering Major, and I got a 4 on my Calc BC exam (with a 5 on the AB portion). I went to my advisor before I got my AP scores and I thought I would get a 5 on the Calc exam, so he thought that Calc III would work out for me. When I found out about getting a 4 in Calc, I emailed my advisor about what I should do, and he said that I should just stay in Calc III as Calc II is a much harder class.

Here's where the problem comes in. I have no idea how well I'll do in Diff. Eq. (which is after Calc III for me) especially since a lot of Calc II material goes into Diff. Eq. I already got the credit for Calc II, so I don't want to really take the class again, but would the practice be really needed for Diff Eq? Should I take Calc II instead of Calc III?

Thanks in advance!

It is really ultimately up to you and how well you think you know Calc II. If it is any help, a number of years back UIUC’s engineering and math departments did an internal study to see how well students did when accepting an AP credit for Calc 2 and starting college with the next level calc course. They found that those who scored 3 often did poorly on that next level calc course, that those who had 4 usually did C or better and those who had 5 did B or better. It was a result of that study that UIUC stopped giving course credit for a 3.

Take Calc III. I know a few people who have taken both Calc II & III at U of I and they have said that Calc II is harder and a complete *****.
