Hi everyone. I'm using the Red Book to study for my first Act in September. I got a combined score of 33 for the English, Reading,Math, and Science sections and was wondering if anyone knows how to factor in the writing score to get the total ACT score.

The writing score does not factor into the composite score. The writing is factored with English, which gives you a combined English/Writing score. However, this English/Writing score is not a part of the composite; only the English score is.

The writing section does not affect the composite score on the act

Your writing score is a combination of your writing score (out of 12) and your english score (out of 36). It does not go into your composite at all, it is a separate score that schools like to see.

Add all the subjects’ (except for writing) and divide by 4
