Confused with the scoring system

Hi, I'm confused about the ACTs. I'm wondering how the writing section is involved in the calculation. I understand that the composite score without the writing section is English + Science + Math + Reading divided by 4
Is the composite score with writing, the Combined English/Writing + Science + Math + Reading divided by 4? The book does not clearly explain how to do this.

Also, the scores I recieved taking 1 practice test were
Engilsh:29 (Without writing)
Math: 35
Science: 35
Reading: 34

Are these scores decent?

Yes the composite score is the average, and I don't believe that the essay is taken into account. You have very nice scores, just practice english a bit.

Those scores are very good, if you took the practice test under timed conditions that mimic real testing conditions.

The writing test is not included in the composte. The writing and combined English/writing scores are separate. Which book does not clearly explain how this?
