Calculating your UC/CSU GPA when you've supplemented with college courses

My question is do you count a community college course taken as a High Schooler in 10th or 11th grade as one semester grade or two in the UC/CSU GPA calculation.

The CSU mentor GPA calculator clearly states that “a semester grade in a college course should be counted twice. Example: You earned a grade of “B” in the course: Biology 10 - Fundamentals of Biology at El Camino Community College. You would count this “B” twice in your GPA calculation.” This means that even though the course was just for a summer or a semester, the grade counts as if two semesters were completed with the same grade. Is this correct? The University of California website doesn’t appear to provide any specifics in this area. Could the UC GPA be different then than the CSU GPA?

Given that I’ve taken several college courses to supplement my high school curriculum it has a big impact on my overall GPA.

my understanding is that they both cap your total weighted GPA bonus points at 8 semesters. So, the max CSU/UC GPA is around 4.4. That said, UCs look at your full transcript and give an unspecified weight to your course rigor.

@NCalRent Thanks! What I meant is that in addition to the bonus points the grade itself is counted twice in the calculation (meaning as if you had completed two semesters with that grade instead of one).

Yes it’s my understanding as well that the grade is actually counted twice.

@BZ3Boys Thanks! I thought I was the only one calculating it this way.
