calculator for 2c

is a graphing calculator needed? coz i just got one which had the recommended features in PR but doesn't have a graph function

Any calc is better than none. I took the exam with my TI-89 and it really helped. I got an easy 800.

but are there questions where u need a graphing calc?

IM having trouble understanding how you can have a graphing calculator that doesnt graph...

Billhpike,

what about the ti-89 did you find helpful on the test?

I liked the ability to punch in equations and get exact soulutions and the ability to easily factor.

get an 89. if possible, borrow someones 83 and use both the 83 and 89 on test day. 83 for quick arithmetic and simple graphing. 89 for the solve and factor functions. easy 800 if you did 4-5 prep tests and use this method.

is the 84 good enough...?

sorry i mean i've got a scientific calc but not one with a graph . can the test be done without a graph calc?

Its a good idea to have an 83. I personally have an 84 SE

I personally have ti 89 titanium..and it's almost a cheating device. (It can do symbolic math, which means it can do basicallly anything from factoring to differentiating)

It will really be helpful if you have one, but I don't think it's all that necessary and it does take some time to get used to graphing calculators.

Even more time to get used to the Ti-89 Titanium. I never got that because it weakens your basic skills and Ti 83/84 is all you need throughout college.

i got an 89... i know there is a polynomial function thing... so... how does it help?

it seems the test checks more your ability to use a calc than to do maths(i just did a pr test and was pretty disappointed, but with a better calc could have done much better)
