Hi, I want to know that if a graphing calc is really helpful to solve problems in the mathII test. Especially with the "graph questions"? and which calc is best and easy to use TI-83, TI-84, or TI-89? thanks

yes a graphing calc is necessary unless you're a genius

ti-83 is fine, but if you got some extra cash, then ti-89 is the best, but you need some time to learn how to use it as it is complicated

It is deffinately to your benifit to not be calculator dependent, or you'll run out of time. TI 83+ is what I would recommend but I found that on the Math SAT II I didn't use my calc that much.

thanks everyone,
also, would the TI-89 have more long term benefit than the TI-83 since it is more advanced? i mean, would the TI-89 be more helpful for future college math courses?

At my school, almost all of my friends have the TI 83+/84+, which are both essentially the same. A few have the TI 89 and to be honest, its only a handful. The important thing to remember when buying a graphing calculator is that it has to be something you feel comfortable with. It might be able to do several more applications than the TI 83+, and might have better screen resolution, but the actual benefits of having it may not be visible at the normal college level. I'd say that you'd be better off with the 84+, but ask to borrow someone's who has the TI 89. The key design and Operating System is pretty different so you'd have to see if you think you could get used to it.

They won't LET you use the TI-89 in some college classes, only 83s and 84s.

Also, TI-89's are worthless in AP statistics. They have none of the statistics capabilites that TI-83's and TI-84's have.

How is the TI-85 for Math ii?
