Calculator for Calculus BC

I already have an NSpire CX, but I really want the NSpire CX CAS. I spent about 150 dollars on this first calculator, but I bought it a few years ago. Is it worth it if I tried to sell it on Ebay and got the NSpire CX CAS instead?

Absolutely. The cas will almost guarantee you a higher grade on tests and the ap (if you know how to use it).

With a thorough understanding of calculus, a standard graphing calculator is enough. That said, a CAS will most likely help you

The calculator will be good but your teacher may not allow it for exams. That happened to a kid in my class. Basically it allows you to find algebraic derivatives and integrals which is a major advantage if you don’t have to find them by hand.

My calculus teacher would not let us use anything higher than a TI-89 in class for tests. If you have a more powerful calculator, you neglect learning some of the calculus.

You don’t need a CAS, and I don’t really recommend using a CAS to evaluate derivatives and integrals algebraically if you’re new to the methods (e.g. trig substitution) since you won’t really master the material.

@guineagirl96, that’s what my calculus AB teacher is doing. We used those in Algebra I back in 8th grade…

my teacher says the CAS is fine, so I think I will buy it

You don’t need a calculator at all…
