I chose to take calculus 2 this summer because I haven't been taking enough units these last two semesters.

I took my first test yesterday and ended up failing because I underestimated the amount of study time I needed to devote to the course. I don't think I can raise it any higher than a C at this point... I would much prefer working to get an A or B in the fall. Should I drop this class? Or maybe take it for pass/no pass? I'm mostly a self-learner so I don't think taking the class just to learn will help me very much. I can do that at home with my textbook and online resources. Is this (taking it over the summer) a bad idea if I plan on continuing to take higher level mathematics classes afterward. I've been told a lot of students take it over the summer because they either failed it or they want to get it done quickly since their major doesn't require any further math. And although I'm into engineering, math isn't exactly my best subject (I work hard for my math grades).
