Calculus 2

Hey I'm civil engineering major
I failed one midterm for Calc 2 worth 22.5% [i got below a 50/100...more like a 35%]
The quizzes are worth 15%
5% for a recitation.
22.5% for another midterm which i hope to do well.
35% for the final.
Have you faced this before?
:(
If so what kind of options did you have and how did you overcome it?

I failed an exam in calc 1 and was able to come back strong and get a good grade in the class. See how you feel and what kind of grade you get at the end of the semester. Did you grasp the material? Calc 2 has some pretty important topics in it, so you’ll want to feel pretty strong about your knowledge of the material. The max you can get in the class is an 85.4 (assuming you ace everything else and there’s no extra credit, which I would ask about), so best case scenario you get a B or better by acing everything else/doing extra work, worst case you just have to retake the class which isn’t that big of a deal besides the extra time and money.

I would express your concern to your professor, see if he/she is willing to give you an assignment or something for extra points.

Don’t feel bad about it, these classes aren’t exactly easy, just get back up and keep going.

Do not talk to your friends or family until the final. Do what you need to do for your other classes, make sure you get 8 hours of sleep per night, eat well, but spend every other available minute of your life until the final doing calculus problems. Do every single problem in the book in the hardest chapters, including the problems that were not assigned as homework. Do not move from one problem until you’ve figured out how to solve it and understand why it’s solved that way. If you can’t figure it out, Google it, e-mail your professor, go to a tutor. When/if you go to a tutor or your professor, have several questions prepared for them. If tutors aren’t available, pay one. Make sure that you do this for every section that relates to a problem you missed in the book. Don’t want to make time for all this? Hey, you could always just spend another four months in Calculus II.
