Is Calculus I at a local community college comparable to a full year of Calculus at a high school, like an AP Calculus AB class? I am taking the BC Calculus class second semester senior year and the exam, but I wasn't able to fit in AP Calculus AB in my schedule last year(my counselor told me she wrote about it in her rec). I know Penn recommends at least a full year of Calculus but will this hurt my chances?

I don't think there is a definate answer to this question. Why don't you look at the course description of your Calc I and compare that to the topic outline of the Calc AB exam?

In my full year Calc AB class we did all the additional topics for the BC exam as well excluding "Polynomial Approximations and Series".

I took Calc BC last year, as a junior, and according to my teachers:

Calculus AB= 1 semester of calc at community college/calc I
Calculus BC= 2 semesters of calc at a communtiy college/calc I and calc II

It's similar to what pr22 said, but for classes at the CC that require Calc II as a prereq, the CC only accepts 5's on the AP Test.

Pretty much.

i took calc I at a CC, this would still count as "one year of calculus" right? I think most schools have AP Calc AB as a full year course?
