California girl attending UofC or UBC

I currently live in Southern California and am 99.9% sure that I will be attending either University of British Columbia or University of Calgary in the fall. I've been admitted to both for Kinesiology (I want to be a physical therapist). I absolutely love hockey, which is one reason why Canada is perfect for me. I have seen both UofC and UBC. I saw UBC when it was covered in snow (which I heard was rare), and thought it was a little too big for me. Then again, it was covered in snow so it was hard to judge how big the place actually was. I liked Calgary a lot more and I think it's more my style. UBC seemed like San Francisco with the fashion and upper class attitude, while Calgary was more laid back and everyone was just in jeans or sweats.

I guess I just need some reassurance and a little help on how to make this decision. When I went to visit UBC, they said that most of the dorms are single dorms, which kind of scared me. I'm not sure I want to be in a room alone when I'm going to a school where I don't know a single person. Are single rooms normal for Canada or is it just UBC that does it?

Help! UBC or UofC?

Well, UBC has everything from singles to quadruples … and most people WANT singles.
I’m pretty sure it’s similar throughout Canada.

Yes, UBC and Vancouver are massive, but there’s also so much to do.
