California residency as a minor

I currently live with my mother out of state. I’m a minor under the age of 18, so according to the information provided on the UCSD website, I may be able to derive resident status if I move in with my father (who lives in California and can claim resident status) before my 18th birthday this September.

Can anyone confirm this, and if so, suggest a way to go about it regarding actually confirming this with UCSD admissions?

I would call UCSD directly, since California laws are very strict about residency. Also if your mother has custody, you may have to go to court to change the custody ruling to your father.

Have you been accepted into UCSD as an out of state applicant? if so, changing your status will probably be difficult.

If you are planning to finish high school in CA, you won;t have any trouble. Just be sure to complete the A-G requirements and earn your way in (via test scores, GPA, etc.).
