California Theatre programs - Advice Needed

I initially posted this in the Arts majors board, but had no response; I thought I'd try again here since this board seems to have more traffic.

My daughter wants to major in theatre, perhaps heading towards a career as a stage manager, although she enjoys all aspects of theatre and would like the chance to do some acting as well while in college. She begins her senior year next month, with a B+ GPA, 1900 SAT, newspaper editor, and lots of theatre activity (including "Best Thespian" award the last two years). She leans towards going to college in CA, and likes Scripps, Occidental, Chapman, LMU, Santa Clara, and Whittier. UCSB was on the bigger side although she liked that too. She was also impressed with Fullerton, but would prefer more of a residential campus. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

Welcome, David.

Here is a thread that discusses West Coast MT schools (have regular theater too):

The list your D is looking into in CA looks good. It just so happens I am immersed in researching schools for a client, including CA ones. So besides the ones you listed that your D likes, you may wish to explore these as well:

UCIrvine
UCLA
USC
San Francisco State
California Institute of the Arts
UC-Davis
University of the Pacific
UC-San Diego
Pepperdine
Cal State-Chico

Looks like you already found many good ones, though.

most of the urban schools on your list have a very heavy commuter element to them. so if this is a major issue you might want to consider davis, chico, pacific, cal poly san luis.
