i live in so cali (san diego to be precise) and im going off to the East Coast for college! I'm not sure how to adjust. Any suggestions? Also is there any way I can NOT dorm first sem for the ivy colleges? i really REALLY dont want to dorm. my friends also going to the same ivy as i'm going and we were planning on dorming or renting an apartment or something, but either way i DONT want to live on campus not even for first year there (same with her). so yes - open to advice and any suggestions!!

edit - i also did swim team, waterpolo in h/s. and also one year of gurls golf duiring freshman year.. should i pursue this while in the east coast? or is the weather thing not going to work out? cause my school practiced (swim) outdoors and i dont know how ill handle the east coast.. too cold? idunno or should weathernot have anything to do with my decison?

y don't you want to dorm? I hear @ the ivies they're pretty chill, not like @ berkeley where the RA's are dicks. @ harvard they don't even write you up for smoking weed.

I'm not sure about the housing situation, some colleges have a policy that you have to live on campus first year, but there are exceptions to get out of it, check with the school.

I would think the biggest difference would be the weather. Our high school team practiced during the winter, and they just practiced indoors. I thought most colleges had indoor pools anyway. But I know all the swim teams at the colleges I visited practiced indoors.

It was supposed to be spring a while ago but it hasn't even gotten warm until recently... The winter wasn't that bad. I wouldn't base going to a school on the weather unless the place got 14 feet of snow or something (Oswego) making me unable to walk or something, that made me cross them off my list. :P I hate the cold... but I deal.
