California University grant question if not taking full year?

I got a university grant from financial aid for the upcoming year starting Fall. I am currently a fifth year student that only require Fall and Winter quarter left to graduate (Spring quarter is not needed).

My UC university grant on my summary splits my grant into 3 quarters. But the question is, since I am only taking 2 quarters instead of 3, is there a way to revise my grant to be split into 2 quarters instead of 3? I see an option on my financial awards page to request a change in aid, if I tell them that I only need 2 quarters will they lower my grant?

I’m not positive, but I highly doubt it. These grants are usually based on NEED and if you are only attending 2/3 of a year you only need 2/3 of the original FA package. The UCs are hurting for money, the state grant programs hurting for money, and turning down qualified students for even simple admission. It makes no sense to shower you with freebie grant monies above what you need. Remember, your neighbors cough up this grant money via taxes–why should you get money above the support you qualify for per actual quarters attended?

Thank you for your opinion.

Your COA is currently based on 3 quarters so you were given three quarters’ worth of aid. If the COA is going to go down (2 quarters instead of 3), your total aid will also most likely be be lowered.
