So how much roughly did each quarter cost? I’m curious because my financial aid is giving me almost 7.5 for the first quarter and 5 for the other 2, with the cal grant just on a list of it’s own, I just don’t understand how it works.

i’ll try to take a stab at answering this although the wording of your question is a bit unclear…

anyway, the way financial aid works is that it is divided into three quarters. so, let’s assume that your total cost of attendance is estimated to be $30,000. in this case, the ‘cost’ per quarter is $10,000. you mentioned cal grant. the cal grant (and any other grants, scholarships) will not be paid into your student account all in one lump sum. whatever the total number is, it’ll be disbursed (paid into your account) in three quarterly installments.

i don’t understand the numbers you wrote (7.5, 5). are those numbers grant amounts? scholarship amounts? either way, they’ll be divided by three and disbursed in three payments.

hope this made sense…

Ohh ok. I’m sorry, those were thousands of dollars. Each quarter says that I’ll approximately 7.5k, 5k, 5k respectively, and the Cal Grant is on a bar by itself, undispersed. That’s what I was wondering is all, is why an extra 2.5k is there 1st qtr, and the cal grant isnt split

lol, yes i understood that those numbers were referring to dollar amounts, i just wasn’t sure what type of aid they represented. then u said that the cal grant was set off to the side, so it is confusing. without having your financial aid award letter in my hands, it’s hard to advise online.

my suggestion is for you to call financial aid and speak with someone there. if you still have questions after speaking with someone, ask to speak to a person who is NOT a student. sometimes the students don’t communicate clearly, and they tend to be the first point of contact. so don’t hesitate to ask for someone else (a supervisor).

good luck!
