same here.... I am so worried about the FA policy for CA students. Now only Cornell explicitly states that both PR and citizen get need-blind financial aid......... realli donno about other ivies...maybe just send Canadian tax return form ... that works?

All the Ivy League schools except Brown give need-blind financial aid to
Canadians.

well, coolness_rookie, it does look busy. I hope you get your first choice in schools as well. All the best. How's Scona High anyways?

At Old Scona, we got a new principal. Well, he tries so hard to keep our school's reputation, which has been 1st in Alberta for like 8 years now, and our school's becoming more academic year by year. lol.

That's cool. I don't usually hear a lot about Scona, mostly just Harry Ainly, Ross Shep Vic Comp etc..... My school focuses on academics and is pretty competative as well, but our music department is one of the best in Canada, which I think is incredibly cool since I'm really into singing.

Just to let you know, there is one school called "Strathcona Composite High School", which is commonly referred to as Scona. My school is "Old Scona Academic". =) Just so that you know that Old scona and scona are two different schools :P

Oh ok.... wow you learn something new everyday. I was wondering why you said that you got a new principal, because one of my friends goes to Scone and she hasn't said anything.... It makes sense now! Thanks!

coolness_rookie, unless you cured cancer, colleges don't give a **** what you did in grades 1-9.

Notice how everyone always says "unless you cured cancer"? Why isn't it ever something else? World hunger/poverty, cure to MS or Alzheimers, etc. (sorry, late night ramblings :))

If you did something from an early age and continued it through high school, could you put down all the years you did it, or would you only write 4 years?

"- 2001 Pythagoras Mathematics Competition – Medal Winner"

yup. adcoms care that you knew how to use pythagorian's theorm in grade 3.

lol sry, couldn't resist

ps: CBS committees are worthless cause anyone who signs up gets in.

cool ppl here at cnd place...... Nice to see splendid stats already

jpps1 " coolness_rookie, unless you cured cancer, colleges don't give a **** what you did in grades 1-9. "

lmao.. very funny

for the plp who have avg's in 90s y do'nt u guy's just apply to u of t, they have an awesoem reputation too...? and it'll save u alot of $$

It's the prestige I guess. Logically, it would make more sense to do the undergrad in Canada (and save a bundle), and then go to the US for graduate studies. Meh, to each his own, I guess.

to BC applicants.....wut if the strike goes on forever....crying...

I'm in Grade 11 in a GTA school - a terrible school that doesn't focus anything on academics or intellectual development.

I feel listless when reading all of everyone's ECs, grades ,etc.
I'm practically failing, even though my school is so effing easy. It's just that I never had the motivation and felt very depressed in such a crappy school. :(
LOL, that^ reason is totally not going to excuse me in the eyes of the adcoms.

I never knew that so many Canadians can get into Ivies and Oxbridge... I had always expected that everyone was going to the generic UofT, McGill, McMaster, Ryerson, Queens, etc. Even reading in the Toronto Star newspaper about those crazy Top Scholar people, they were all listed to be going to Ontario/BC/Quebec schools.
But reading upon all you lucky bastards [:P], I see I've ruined my chances by false expectations. :(

I have zero ECs and failing grades. How's that for an acceptance letter from Oxford? :(

.
.
.

However, I'm SOOO glad that for graduate schools, you don't need to show your high school transcript.
For undergrad, I'm going to end up at UofT even if I had a 99.8% average because of the ultra high tuitions/college fees/etc, so I'm aiming for Oxbridge graduate studies.

That prospect^ is saving me from ultra depression.

hey dying ember, it's never too late to start

it's better that you start now, get some good study habits for university, and excel there where it's a clean slate

Totally true. Get involved now! You can make up a lot of ground if you work hard this year and the next. Just don't over do it.
