<p>I'm from India, but I don't get why people from India are called "Desi"? Is it a Hindi term or was it created here in the United States?</p>

<p>sexydesi - i really want to go to stanford...but i don't think I will get in because, as everyone knows, competition there is stiff. So my next choice is UCLA, then USC, then UCSD, then UCM (i live close by and i think i would be able to do very well there, and it would be the first class ever, and i would be able to go to wash dc for a semester or two, along with some family pressures to stay close by), then UCD, then UCI.</p>

(but not as much as NJ)....there are pretty much NO desis where i live, and its kinda depressing...i think im turning white!!! ....90% of the population here is white here(with about 9% being hispanic and 1% other), and i have lived in Idaho for about 10 years now, and i miss all the garba-rass or hanging out with my cousins and stuff..waaaah!. (ever since i was 7)</p>
