i got rejected and im really sad and feel devastated right now.
do you think its possible to call them and like ask them stuff?
im really confused. but i just wanna call them.
what should i say?
i was thinking about just asking them how they chose who to accept, but idk.
im like killing myself right now :[
i cant believe i lost this chance. im going to a public school now.

bump pleasee?

Go ahead and call…it can’t hurt*

You’re not allowed to contact the school until March 13 or something.

i would wait a bit before calling just because they must be getting tons of calls from students still pending acceptance/waitlisting.

Don’t call them right now. They are getting lots of calls, and will not have any time to talk to you. In all probability, you will get an answering machine, and not get a response for a while.
Meanwhile - try not to take it to heart! It’s not the end of your life. You will be just fine!

Ya just think about the fact that you live in the north…schools up there are great. Many people got rejected and now have to go to horrible public schools. Public school really isn’t that bad depending where you live I would assume (not speaking from experience).

although andover was the only school i applied to, i had a reason for it.
i loved it! it was a perfect fit for me. but i guess it isnt anymore… :-/
my parents believed that andover was the only place worth spending money on becuse of the opportunities there. i agree with them too.
i would have moved to just go there.
exeter isnt bad, but its rly far.
i live an hour away from andover.

bump please?

You’ve repeated that same passage a few times, I’ll try to help you out.

As a reject it will be incredibly difficult to get admission. Call them, if they are nice they will hopefully give you a few pointers. After which point, get ready for next admission cycle.

alright, thanks. sigh.

Classicgirll, I’m truly sorry you got rejected. Like seriously I feel INSANELY bad for you since you wanted it so badly. But just because you go to public school doesn’t mean you are not going to get into a good college or get a bad education. For example, one of my best friends got into NYU Tisch for film early decision. It is like legit the most selective film school in the country and she goes to public school. As long as you do your work, you will still succeed in life. Top schools do not mean success. Good work ethic and trying your hardest is all that matters in the end.

Classicgirl.

It’s a heartbreaker, but you WILL/MUST get over it. I had to apply several times to some schools I have gone to. It’s definitely worth reapplying. What year are you?

Also, even if Andover is your dream school, check out some of the others. There is a lot of diversity in what the schools are looking for, and you might get in somewhere else. Exeter, Hotchkiss, Deerfield, etc.

Communicate with your interviewer and admissions people by email. Ask them directly if they think you should reapply. They should give you a straight answer. They have more experience with students feeling “rejected” than anyone else. I can’t imagine how tough it must be for them.

Good Luck.

classicgirl,
The fact that you were rejected makes you want it more - that’s human nature. Give time, you will feel better. I doubt you’ll get any really useful information by calling them. You only applied to one school, one very selective school. Getting rejected must’ve been a scenario you thought of, so the lesson I think is to apply a few more schools next year unless you are REALLY ready to give up the idea of going to a BS if it is not your one and only choice.
