Ok i'm having a little problem here. When I was accpeted into Cal, on the admission page I saw my Calnet ID. Then I created a passphrase using my Calnet ID. Now when I try to login, it says that they can;t identify my CalNet ID. Can you guys all login???? What is the 4 digit Pin that you have to use to create your passphrase???It says it's at the bottom of admit letter, but I can't find it anywhere.
Thank you so much for any help!

I don't know, I haven't gotten my letter in the mail yet, but Alexis, that must mean you got in to Berkeley, right?!?

you may not be in the system yet. Give it a week, then if it doesn't work, call someone.

Your pin is on the front page of your myberkeleyapp. Your ID number for the Calnet is also there in bold letters if you scroll a bit down. I set up my CalNet ID already. Maybe you have to turn in your SIR?

are you a spring admit?

have you gotten the physical acceptance in the mail because its at the bottom of that

just for the record...being a spring admit does not affect your CalNet ID :)

No, I'm a fall admit. I know that you guys say that it's at the bottom of the acceptance letter and on the admit page, but I can't find mine!!! there is not even a number on that letter.....I have already created my passphrase but I can't login. does anyone know where I should go to recover the passphrase????? I emailed them but It didn't really help......

from their faqs:

Q: I have a PIN so why do I need this Bear Facts passphrase?
A: Your PIN is a temporary code that you use only once in order to create a CalNet passphrase and activate your account. (You can change your passphrase anytime) Your CalNet ID and passphrase will be important for you to establish and use throughout your college career at Berkeley. Only your CalNet ID and passphrase will provide you access to your financial aid information, CalSO (student orientation), Registration, the Statement of Legal Residence, etc. Once you have set up your passphrase, keep it confidential and do not forget it! It is time consuming to obtain a new one if you do forget it.

Q: I forgot my Bear Facts passphrase and I can't seem to make a new one. Help!
A: Unfortunately, Admissions staff cannot fix this problem. Only you and the campus’ student security deputy can change your passphrase. When you call or email, explain that you are a newly admitted student, not currently on campus. Be prepared to give a new passphrase to be entered on your account (see http://calnet.berkeley.edu ). They may ask you security questions or have your fax them a copy of your photo ID for identification. Be sure to indicate your CalNet ID number on the fax.

Q: How do I create my CalNet ID and what is it used for?
A: Please print and refer to Creating Your CalNet ID.

Q: I tried getting into Bear Facts several times, and it still wouldn't go through. I am using my CALNET ID and PIN, but it would not let me create my passphrase.
A: You cannot access Bear Facts with your CalNet ID number and PIN; you first need to activate (create) your CalNet ID (using your PIN) and create a passphrase. Refer to Creating Your CalNet ID for more information. If you are having difficulty with activating or creating your CalNet ID, you should contact the Information Services & Technology.
your PIN is in your myBerkeleyApp Next Steps section.
