I am in desperate need of a nice and affordable room for the next school year. Craigslist has not been very helpful. Is Calrental useful with the listings? I don't want to pay $20 for a service that won't give me much listings.

I think it’s somewhat useful if you aren’t too picky about your living situation. The listings are slightly more expensive than ones on CL but they obviously are a bit more legitimate. After calling about 10 people on there, I noticed that the aspects they list are non-negotiable (Ex. pets, dates, furniture, deposit). There weren’t that many listings on there but I was looking in early June. In the end, I wound up finding a place on CL.

Overall, it’s only $20 and this is a place you will potentially be living at for a year!

Write it off on your taxes as a school expense later.

it was NOT WORTH IT for me. I didn’t find anything on it that worked for me and ended up going with FREE craigslist. Calrentals features a lot of the typical student housing options ie. 7 people in a 3 room apartment for 800 dollars a person, and other expensive nonsense. Got my OWN room 6 blocks away from campus for 675.
