Cal Rentals

Hello,
I wonder any of you ever used Cal Rentals. Do you think it is worth to pay $20 for the website? I cannot post to craigslist and so I guess maybe I can find a place at Cal Rentals.

Thanks for your time

you can post on craigslist. You just have to get a free account.

i dont know anyone who uses cal rentals. just use craigslist, word of mouth, and walk/drive around in neighborhoods looking for “for rent” signs. thats how i found my amazing apartment, since the owner didnt post on craigslist! my apartment is home :)

craigslist is a great site, but i need a US phone number to register, which I don’t have one at the moment, that was the problem.

Btw, how could you comment on housing rates for single and shared rooms?

well it kinda depends on the situation. if you mean having a 2br apartment with 3 people, the person in the single normally pays ~200 extra. if you mean having a 1br all to yourself, you can pay up to double what you would sharing. and if you want a studio, well those are around 1000-1300, from what i’ve seen. if you really want a single room, people advertise single rooms in their 3-4 br places all the time, normally around 800. that’s probably the cheapest way to go.

u dont need a phone. u could also provide ur email adress which alot of people do.

plus, you don’t even need to post anything to craigslist. Simply email people that have already posted ads.

well, in order to post, craigslist requires a US phone number. (after registration)

Ok, I don’t remember ever having to give my phone number, but your situation might be different than mine. And again, you don’t even really need to post an ad to craigslist to use craigslist. You can just contact people who have already posted ads for open rooms/apartments.

Also, I signed up for Cal Rentals, and I feel like I just threw 20 bucks down the drain. They had 0 postings for my price range. Craigslist has a bunch of postings. Don’t waste your money on Cal Rentals (assuming you haven’t already).
