CALS or CAS?

I am intending to apply to Cornell Agriculture and Life RD and was wondering if this is a bad idea considering I am out of state (Florida). I am a WM. I am much more interested in life sciences than liberal arts and sciences but I am afraid being out of state will hurt me. I have a 3.5-3.6 Gpa uw, 4.0-4.1 w but I am taking the hardest courses my school offers, I will have taken 8 APs and 9 honors by the time I graduate, so far I have 4s across the board on AP exams. Ranked easily top 15% in one of most competitive public schools in FL. ACT score of 30(32 on science). SAT not as good, thinking about retaking. 730 in SAT 2 writing, 630 in Bio E, also thinking about retaking. Cornell will be able to tell I'm very interested in life science from my courses (I tripled up on science last year) and my ECs. I am an Arthur R. Marshall Fellow(3 semester college course in environmental issues), Team Captain of envirothon Q and A competition (we took home first place in county current issues), student treasurer of marine science, member of J.E.T.S. Have volunteering experience also, supervisor at humane society and worked with therapy dog foundation, have 150~ hours all told. Have other ECs, Founder of Cricket Club, am president this year, historian of asian club (I know, and I'm not even Asian), Key Club etc. I am thinking about joining varisty baseball this year, no other sports. What do you think my chances are at either school? Thanks!

hey, im applying CALS out-of-state from California(bioengineering). I heard that the acceptance rate is more a less the same for out-of-staters and new york residents

oh and I plan to major in science of natural and environmental systems with a 2nd choice in natural resources, don't know if that matters. Also, I have very good recs and decent essay writing skills. rpp: I've heard that since it is a land grant college, 80% of students come from in state. Thanks

I have heard that anywhere between 50-80% are new yorkers. I am a new yorker and I applied to CALS!

bump, my chances?

what's a WM?

white male

i think the CALS favors ny residents, rpproductions.

the acceptance rate for CALS for NY residents is definitely higher. since CALS is a state-funded school, they are required to have a large representation of NY state. I think it's usually 60% NY residents

Still no thoughts on my chances?

i think you have a pretty good chance. if you were an NYer it would be easier probably
