CAS or CALS (also chances?)

Hey guys!

I will be a senior next year and I plan on applying ED to Cornell. I have wanted to apply to CALS as a bio major for a while now because I want to focus on science but I think that I am rounded in my academics and could also be a good fit for CAS. Will I be a better fit in one college and therefore have a better chance?

My ECs are pretty diverse-

Interning/Volunteering at a biology lab doing research on genetics in mice -- approx. 200 hrs
Music- Level 9 AIM in piano, saxophone in highest concert band at school (played since 5th grade)
Scouting- Silver Palm Eagle Scout; in charge of my local chapter for Order of the Arrow.
Eagle scout project- approx. 150 hrs, trail repairing in a local canyon
Volunteering hours- approx. 150- 200
NHS officer
High school swim team from 10th and 11th, will swim again this year.
Water polo 10th

General stats

4.0 Unweighted, rigorous schedule
SAT- 2200, 1480 math and reading; 1 time, will retake
SATII- 800 Math 2, 780 Bio Molecular
APs- 10th grade --5 AB calc subscore, 5 BC calc, 5 American,
11th- 5 Euro, 5 Stats, 5 Bio, 4 English Lit,
National Merit semifinalist- 221

Also IB diploma candidate- two 6's in SL tests (Spanish, Music)

So basically, would CALS reject me for not being focused on life sciences enough? I also have no experience with agriculture whatsoever...

Any input would be appreciated!

You’re very well qualified to apply to both colleges. Since you want to focus on science, though, I think CALS would be a better fit for you. CAS has its own requirements, some of which aren’t really related to science (language comes to mind).

Thanks Islander4. I am just a little nervous about not being a really great fit in CALS due to my limited experience in agriculture and the life sciences.
