I know that Cornell wants to admit students based on fit. I selected CALS as my first college choice since I want to be a Bio major for pre-med. The problem is, although CALS is certainly a viable option for premed, I feel like the college focuses on environmental biology and more liberal arts rather than pre-professional biology. Will my essay about my interest in medicine look like a misfit for the CALS school?

There is no reason to be concerned. A pre-med biology track is perfectly acceptable for CALS, just as non-pre-med tracks are acceptable for CAS. It all boils down to the coursework you choose to enroll in during your time at Cornell. Actually, if you’re an NYC applicant, I strongly advise you stick with CALS because of the tuition break it receives as a state endowed school.
