CalTech question

Hi, I recently got an email saying,
"Dear ______,

Thank you for your patience while we worked to provide you with the most
accurate information possible on the items needed to complete your Regular
Decision application.

The item(s) missing from your application include:

Evaluation: Humanities/Social Science

If you have these items sent immediately, we will be able to review your
application and make a decision by the middle of March. We recognize that the
items may have already been sent, but for some reason beyond your control, have
not arrived at Caltech. It is important that items you believe have already
been sent be resubmitted to us at this time.

The quickest and most reliable method to submit the missing item(s) is through
the Common Application website. Please have your recommender log on to the
Common Application website and submit their document for you as soon as
possible. It is not necessary for the document to be sent by mail if it is
submitted online.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Ray Prado
Director of Admissions"

what does this mean? what exactly am i missing, a teacher recommendation? or did the recommendation have to be one of humanities/social science? I am so confused.

the recommendation has to be one of humanities/social science

one rec had to be from humanities/social science.
if you didn’t know that, I am sincerely concerned about you because most schools require one from humanities/social science and one from math/science

So did they already send missing items letters? I haven’t got one yet :(.

pchunter ~ One recommendation is required to be from a humanities/social science teacher.

MSGM16 ~ They may not have sent you a letter yet if they haven’t found anything missing in your app; I imagine their first concern right now is getting any missing materials in time to review apps.

I received a missing items email as well, only mine was for the application fee. It said to resubmit it through the common app, but the common app says that it is already paid and downloaded.

Cicero ~ That warrants a call to the admissions office. If it was anything else I’d just tell you to resubmit it anyway, but you don’t need to pay for your app twice.

I contacted admissions via email as soon as I received the email this morning. It turned out to just be a mix up.
