Caltech Recruitment

I heard that Caltech places almost no emphasis on recruitment for sports. The coaches have almost no say on whether an applicant is admitted, right? The coach says that he will send a letter to the admissions supporting my application. Will that have any effect, if at all?

My stats are fine: 4.0 unweighted, Ranked 4/500+, 2340 SAT, 800*2 on SAT II, 5s on AP exams, etc. I'm really worried because I don't have many EC's relating to math and science because of the time spent playing my sport. However, I am passionate about neuroscience, and hopefully that shows through in the essay.

So, will the recruiting help at all?

I think at a place like Caltech, recruiting won’t help at call. It’s better depend on your essays and scores to pull you through.

Check out my old thread about it.

Also do you mind telling me what sport you are getting recruited for, as I am going on a water Polo recruitment trip there in about a week.

I hit fuzzy yellow balls really hard.
