For US students applying to the University of Cambridge, I know that Cambridge doesn't offer interviews in the US and doesn't allow US students to interview in Canada. So is an interview necessary, and do they pay for any of your travel expenses if you have to go to England for an interview?

Bump.
Ten characters.

You need to interview. It’s not like a US alumni chat in a coffee shop; you will be tested on your subject. It’s probably one of, if not THE, most important parts of your application.

If you’re serious about applying, get in touch with your college sooner rather than later about reimbursing your expenses. I didn’t make any inquiries about the costs, but they also never asked me if I needed any aid with the cost when I interviewed.

Since the UK schools have a low amount of aid for International students, I highly doubt they reimurse for travel.

However, they have been amenable to skype interviews for subjects other than medicine.

That’s interesting then. Well the cost of going wouldn’t be a financial problem though it would be better to have it partly reimbursed.

They won’t reimburse your travel costs.
