Cambridge-MIT Exchange Program

I've been looking around and couldn't find a specific answer:

Is the admission to this exchange program very selective? It seems only a few(15-20) students from each university participate, but how many apply?

Hopefully somebody will be able to chime in with more detailed knowledge, but as I understand it, you actually apply to your program rather than to a central CME mechanism. I suspect that the departments’ primary concern is to be sure students can spend a year in Cambridge and still finish their degree requirements on time, although I don’t know how selective that makes them.

I think you apply to the CME program and then get your department’s approval? I know that far fewer people apply on the MIT side than on the Cambridge side, but that the number of people who can come here from Cambridge is limited by the number of people who go there from MIT, so I think it’s actually pretty easy to get in if you want to go.

There are a limited number of slots, and students have to have very good GPA’s/be far enough along on their requirements to go to Cambridge. Have you tried emailing the office? The address is provided on their website.
