<p>Is a PhD in political science/international relations from Cambridge competitive for an academic career in the U.S.? A friend of mine is thinking of applying. She has a publication already, a masters from Cambridge, and works for a U.S. government agency that overlaps with international relations field quite considerably. Any opinions?</p>
