I'm looking for schools with campuses(meaning not like BU/NYU where there really isn't one) in or very near the city, kind of like Columbia or in some sense Brown. I'd prefer them to be in the northeast/mid atlantic or possibly the more liberal midwestern cities like Chicago.

Reaches and especially matches/safeties are all appreciated.

Stats: PSAT - 221, haven't gotten SAT scores yet, I'm hoping they'll be a little higher. 3.9 GPA...

I’ll admit my bias as an alum, but look at Johns Hopkins. I think it has one of the most (if not the most) beautiful urban campuses–and the academics are as good as you’ll find anywhere. The campus is green and woodsy–even though it is in the middle of a large city.

Seconding Fordham! It’s a great school. American is too.

Also look at: U Rochester (excellent match school), Sarah Lawrence (great LAC just outside of the city), UMD College Park (a good safety by DC), Rice (don’t let the location fool you; it’s really liberal).

World Changer, Barnard is my first choice! Columbia doesn’t really appeal to me because of the core (it was just an example of a city school) but Barnard sounds amazing…
