Campus Life

How much of a student’s life is focused on campus at American, as compared to how much of a student’s life is focused on being in Washington, DC? Is there much traditional campus life?

There is never a shortage of things (and schoolwork) to do.

AU does put on a fair amount of programming (aka Student Union Board Movie nights, club meetings, and lots of speakers.) However, compared to a more isolated school, a lot of it happens on weekdays.

On a given weekend I know students who will:
*go see a volleyball game
*go see a movie
*go to a club
*go to frat
*do homework
*go out to eat
*spend the night in and "hang out"

So to answer your question, people generally get their weekend entertainment in the city. It's fantastic that there are so many things to do, but I admit that DC is expensive.
