I was wondering if visiting the campus and attend the tours/info session if that could affect my application decision. I'm from New York so I will have to fly in, but I only want to visit if it could make a difference, since airfare is so high.

I honestly would like to visit, but I don't want to spend $400+ if it won't make a difference if I visit the campus or not.

Thanks!

I am not sure how much you have read about WashU application process or read posts on CC. WashU is known for place wtg on level of interest more so than most schools.

No one can tell you if it will be the difference between being accepted or not. There are examples of applicants that have not shown interest and been accepted.

I would suggest visiting to help your chances.

I have the same concern newyork331. I’d have to fly to St. Louis for from Connecticut. I’ll see if I can get a good price on airfare, if not, I guess I’ll save my flight to go visit University of Chicago.

Ask the admissions office for a travel grant to visit the school. They have a budget to pay for flights for prospective students.

I live in St. Louis and I applied this year, and my sister (a senior at WUSTL) works in the Admissions Office, and I can tell you that WUSTL places a lot of emphasis on interest. I’ve known perfectly qualified kids that were denied because they didn’t seem interested and just used WUSTL as a back-up. So, if convenient, I would recommend a visit. Plus, it is a beautiful campus.

thank you! i think i’m going to go visit!
