Can a 2000'er score a 2300?

I just took the BB practice test #1 and got a 2010 (predicted 9 essay): 660CR, 670M, 680W. Do you guys think there is any way i can score a 2250-2300+ by the time the March test comes around? I got -5 in W and thought that the ones i got wrong were pretty random; any suggestions?

P.S. I only got -1 on the SC, so i don't need to study any vocab.

You probably won’t be able to do it by March. However, October would be a good goal. I’m aiming for a 2300+ this January and my chances aren’t looking so good :(

Any suggestions? I’ve seen huge score jumps in quite a few threads, does anyone care to help me bring my score up, or offer any advice?

The sticky’d sat prep advice threads are always useful…

It depends on how effectively you use your time. Instead of asking questions, it would probably be better to go and start studying.

cornetking, shut up. you can’t gauge her abilities like that with such little information. industrial it’s “possible”…depends on your personal abilities, however. and how much you study.

It’s definitely doable. I have a friend who jumped from 2030 to a 2310 in a little less than 4 months. He didn’t do much intensive studying. He just took the last 2-3 weeks and took practice tests, making sure that he reviewed all the concepts that he didn’t know well.

Math is just a matter of practice.
Writing is a matter of knowing your grammar rules and being able to notice them (i.e. don’t get tricked by CollegeBoard)
Reading is well, iffy. Read some of the critical reading help threads…they might help.

^^^
Emphasis on the MIGHT
Threads COULD help. It’s more of building vocabulary and finding an approach that works for you.

The CR is so arbitrary. Sometimes they’ll have questions where you refer to the passages, and at other times they’ll have questions that include some tough vocabulary words and generalizations.

I’ve only taken two practice tests thus far, so hopefully my score will improve drastically when i finish all 10 tests w/ extensive review.

My first practise test I got a 2150, and after 1.5 months prep (with my school midterm exams in the middle) I got a 2310. It’s definitely doable.

Identify your weaknesses: is it CR, Maths, or writing? It’s easy to shoot your writing score up. Do you make mistakes in maths because you don’t know them, or because you make silly, obvious mistakes? As for CR, I HIGHLY recommend reading noitaraperp’s thread, stickied in this forum. It made my CR shoot up to an 800.

Best of luck!
