Can a B student get into a good college?

Ok, I am not a pure "B" student, but rather an A student, with a decent amount of B's here and there.

Freshmen Year I received a 3.66, Sophomore Year I received a 3.35, and Junior Year I received a 3.85, making my GPA a 3.62.

Obviously, unless I get stellar SAT scores, Ivy league schools will be out of the question.

However, I am interested in schools like Boston University, New York University, Johns Hopkins University (business major, not medical - which increases chances drastically), University of Maryland.

I am afraid however a 3.62 gpa isn't good enough.

With good SAT's scores, can an A/B student get into a good school like the ones I mentioned above.

hey I think if you are in the average range of SAT or ACT scores based on the college, then you a chance. But if you are below the average, then you probably will not get in unless you have really great EC’s. A 3.62 is good gpa, and you can get into a loot of great universities. But the universities you listed are pretty competitive, so you never know. I am in the same situation I have a 3.68 weighted gpa, and my #1 choice is maryland. but im doing priority deadline for the school, and im trying to raise my test scores. Make sure you do early action or whatever. Also, its good to have somes high reach school, cause you atcually may get in. But also have some safety and match schools, sicne you can get into a lot of great universities with your gpa. idk about john hopkins though, that school is very tough to get into.

OP: you are not a “B” student just to let you know…

looks like B+, A- more likely…

fyi, a “B” student has a 2.8-3.3 GPA on average unweighted and there are threads on the parents forum for those students
