Can a civil engineer open an architecture firm?

I hear the 2 are very similar. Both overlap each other. Where I live they only teach civil...what future firms can I open with a civil degree? I'm mainly looking at consulting firms.

pls help

In the U.S., they are pretty different, although they are both involved in the construction of buildings. It may be different in your country if only one is taught.

Whats the difference between a CE firm and a Arch Firm?

Would a degree in Urban Planning and Architectural Design work for me to be a qualified architect?

Civil engineers design the building structure (slabs, walls, beams, columns, etc) and foundations. Architects are responsible for the design of the entire building, which encompasses not only the civil engineering aspect, but the HVAC system, plumbing, electric, functionality of rooms, vertical transportation, lighting, landscaping, aesthetics, etc as well. Typically, the architecture firm hires specialty consultant firms to help with this (the civil engineering firm is one or two of them).

Local laws and regulations will dictate what is needed to qualify as an architect.
