Hey All, I took an AP exam for the first time this year. Though I am still waiting for my scores, I am a bit doubtful that I did as well as I wanted to.. I've seen a few posters state that you can retake the exam, but how does the process go?

When do they hold retakes, when could I take it, and how long would it take for them to grade it and get it back to me?

Yes, you can retake an exam, but you have to wait until May to take it during next year’s AP Exam administration. Likewise, if you take any AP Exam next year, you will get your score during July 2012.

Which is why few people retake exams unless they feel they did a fixably poor job in self-studying them - it’s hard to retain the depth of knowledge and level of analysis acquired in a corresponding class for a whole year, even if you study.

I took two exams this year—US History and English Literature—and scored, respectively, a 4 and a 3. I was feeling ill when I took those exams and didn’t study properly for them, so I can’t say I’m terribly surprised.

I attend a rigorous prep school and received high A’s in both of those AP classes. As a history buff planning to major in political science, do you think it’s worth retaking those exams next spring? I mean, I re-read presidential biographies for fun and am taking two more AP English courses next year. The knowledge won’t disappear.

Can you retake AP exams in Florida? (The state pays for our exams provided we take them).
I’ll even pay the money if I need to, but does anyone know how that works?
